The Devil’s Marbleyard is a must-see for any nature lover. The Devil’s Marbleyard got its name from the huge blocks of marble that are strewn across the landscape. These massive rocks were once part of a giant mountain that was slowly eroded over time. How to Get to Devils Marbleyard
There are several trails that wind through the Devil’s Marbleyard, and each one offers something different. The first trail goes past the Marbleyard and morphs into the Gunter Ridge Trail. The second trail adds 3 miles but rewards you with a beautiful 360-degree panorama view of the Appalachian Trail. Both hikes are easily accessible from the nearby parking area and offer you a whole day of adventuring.
Things to Know Before Hiking
We recommend taking a bag with you filled with any medications you might need, fresh water, some snacks, directions, and a phone in case you get lost. The trails are relatively well blazed, but the scenery can sometimes cause you to be confused and the hike is by no means short. The first version is 8.3 miles while the 3 miles brings it to a whopping 11.3 miles roundtrip which can take up to 8 hours including lunch and breaks. The trails are moderately difficult but the views are definitely worth it.
