Looking for some new ways to get outdoors and stretch your legs? Check out our outdoor programs to experience the fresh air of our Shenandoah Valley. Take in a scenic nature walk around the Natural Bridge or take a tubing trip down the James River - you never know what you'll discover.
History of the Natural Bridge - Special Presentations - Saturday/Sundays, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Enjoy these special presentations running approximately every 1/2 hour on the south side of the Natural Bridge through November. Our guide will cover the geological formation of the Natural Bridge, the legend of its discovery, and thehistorical significance from the 18th to 21st century. Hearabout its ties to the Civil War, past U.S. Presidents and more. Presentations are included with admission.

Natural Bridge Guided Nature/Bird Walk - Weekends through November
Saturdays and Sundays (ticket desk opens at 8:00 a.m. on Sat./Sun.) starting at 9:00 a.m.
Stroll along the Cedar Creek Nature Trail and see some of nature's finest works - from the immense wonder of the Natural Bridge to Lace Waterfall and all the living scenery in between. A nature expert will guide you through the marvels of our beautiful surroundings. Enjoy the natural landscape from indigenous birds, unique geology to Virginia's seasonal plant life and more. Identify diverse tree species, see live butterflies, pass through the limestone rock natural bridge, and maybe encounter birds like cardinals or swallows - all along the serene and beautiful Cedar Creek. The trail walk to the falls and back is approximately 1.75 miles. The Nature Walk is included with admission or an annual pass. No other sign up needed. Walk will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. at The Summerhouse, the start of the Cedar Creek Trail. Weather permitting.
