Monacan Indians were first believed to have discovered the Natural Bridge while trying to escape an advancing enemy a long time ago. The deemed it "The Bridge of God". Village guide sit in work shelters and the ati, a hand-constructed house covered in woven cattails, while making tools and baskets. Guides conduct presentations throughout the day and are available to answer visitors’ questions about Monacan life, past and present. Learn about cooking, construction, fishing, gardening, and more. Daily activities change seasonally. Visit often and watch the village grow.

Village Schedule
Guided tours of the Native American Village run Spring through fall (approximately Mar. - Nov.) and are included with admission to the Natural Bridge. The Monacan Village is just past the Natural Bridge along the Cedar Creek Nature Trail. The Village can be viewed year-round (weather permitting) as a self-guided tour during normal operating hours.
